Aerators

Aerators are important components for ponds that add dissolved oxygen during hot summer months and keeps an opening in the ice during freezing winter conditions to allow toxic gas exchange to escape.

Aerator stones or discs should be placed at a lower depth during warmer months and raised closer to the water surface during winter months so the water stratification level doesn't mix super cooling your fish.

Aerators increase the dissolved oxygen levels crucial to all pond life. Learn more about dissolved oxygen levels here-

Aerators-
Sizing and Placement

Aerators are sized according to how many gallons you have and how deep they will be positioned in your pond.

If the pond has been stagnant or cold, run the aerator for only 30 minutes on the first day. Double the running time each day until reaching 24/7 operation by day seven to prevent sudden water mixing and fish shock (especially during cold months).

Aerators have a 2-3 year limited warranty that varies by the manufacturer. There are replacement diaphragms and magnets that can be replaced to extend their use.
